Bast Server Monitoring is much more than normal systems management software because of one major difference. It’s managed – reporting back to a fully redundant remote server. Because of this difference you can be sure of the following things:
- If the monitoring software has problems reporting, the server will detect this and alert you. Network monitoring software can fail to alert you for a number of reasons such as if the server running the monitoring software goes down, the software crashes or the line of communication to the alerting channel is unavailable, etc. Because it’s managed, Bast Software Monitoring wont let you down.
- Bast Server Monitoring is set up by experienced, Microsoft Certified Professionals who know the product and have lots of experience in systems monitoring. This ensures that monitoring is set up correctly and there’s no chance of not being alerted because the software wasn’t configured properly – which happens more than you would imagine.
There are 4 basic network monitoring / system management packages available. These range from a simple daily security check, a more comprehensive daily health check to our full systems management package. Also, we now have a new system management option called “Bast Discount Server Monitoring”. This offers a significant discount compared to the other system management packages whilst still providing the many network monitoring features your business needs.

The Daily Health Check is a great tool to ensure your servers are in good health each day and is much cheaper and more reliable than employing a member of staff to manage this. Free up your IT staff to look into other areas and leave the daily maintenance to us! The Daily Health Check may upgraded to encompass other monitoring checks (such as Windows monitoring, Linux monitoring, Macintosh monitoring and VMware monitoring) and can be customized to your business needs.

Bast Daily Security Check
The Daily Security Check helps protect your network from hackers and ensures that your AntiVirus software is updating. It may upgraded to encompass other monitoring checks (such as VMware monitoring, Pinging Routers and switches, etc) and can be customized to your business needs. | Daily Hacker Check | This detects the presence of Brute Force attacks and Exhaustive searches. It alerts you to potential password guessing on your servers which can sometimes highlight malicious users or the fact that users are struggling with your password policy, which can often lead to users writing down passwords. |
| Daily AntiVirus Checks | Bast can detect if your AntiVirus software is failing to update which can be manifested by erroneous or improperly installed software or even the presence of a virus! |
Bast Discount Server Monitoring
Bast Discount Server Monitoring provides your business with significantly discounted software monitoring for your servers. It leverages a light version of the server monitoring agent on one server or PC to monitor the availability of all servers and the Bast Workstation Agent to monitor the following aspects of the servers:

| Windows Services Checks | Alerts are generated if services that start with Windows fail at any time |

| Automated Tasks | Automate maintenance tasks and reduce support calls. Tasks include Disk Defragmentation, Clearing Event Logs, Temp Files and Cookies |
Like the other system management packages the availability of servers is monitored every 15 minutes, though this may be upgraded to every 5 minutes for a small fee. Unlike the other system management packages however, Bast Discount Monitoring checks are performed only once an hour, though this may be upgraded to every 30 minutes for a very small price.
Bast Discount Monitoring is typically used to fit a tighter budget or to monitor less critical devices. It gives the option to upgrade the server monitoring agent to include additional monitors (such as VMware monitoring, etc); in this scenario, the server monitoring agent is typically placed on a a critical server where the additional network monitoring software features can be best leveraged.
